Vintage 30s Halloween Gibson Misprint 3-sided Shade Black Cat, Jol, Candlelight For Sale
This is for one Vintage Halloween light paper lantern from the 1930s by Gibson Art Company of Cincinnati, USA. This would normally feature 3 scenes - but appears to be a "mis-print" or there was an error in assembly since it was only given 2 scenes with 1 repeated. Each scene features an old frontier-style log fence with an old dead tree in the foreground. Hanging from a single branch is a glass and frame style lantern with a single burning candle inside. In one scene is an arched black cat on the prowl while a jack o'lantern pumpkin peaks from behind the old tree. In the other two there is a pumpkin with this pumpkin vines and a leaf still attached. (The missing scene would have been a dark moon, no tree, and two pumpkins featured in the foreground). Closed, the lantern measures about 7" tall by 5" wide. Please see large detail photos with the description since this is a complexly designed piece. Although this is missing a scene, the lantern is in great condition. All tabs are accounted for, and none, neither the slots have any rips. Some tabs and forms do have a slight bending in them, but this shouldn't effect the piece when it is completely assembled, as the rectangular and triangular faces are all nicely flat. (I did not assemble the piece here to avoid any damage while listing). So the black frame in general is in sweet condition, and the image frames likewise have no tears nor rips, but please expect some general surface bends and slight marks due age and storage. Colors and printing are still nice and strong. Please see photos to examine this complex piece in more detail.
