This 24” x 32” 1950’s-60’s oil on canvas work came from a Lafayette Indiana collection and is signed in the work, Pierre Deauville. The owner was told the work was created by an “experimental artist” who used the vibrations of amplified music to move thinned paint on the surface of a prepared canvas and create random abstract “sonic” works. I have not discovered any information on the painter, but the unusual blending and thinning of pigments as well as the lively, almost biomorphic conformations suggest there is truth in the story.
