Vintage ca. 1930s two part carved treen thimble holder in the form of an acorn with the lettering BRÜNIG (Switzerland). Red plush covered thimble post support inside the 'cup' of holder. In excellent condition - free of cracks, splits and damage. Approx. 6.5 cm from end to end.
Comes with vintage early 20th century German 800 silver thimble with plain knurled top over a decorative border consisting of triangular shaped indentations each highlighted with tiny dots. Faint 800 silver mark in the the knurling and eight point star on the crown - the characteristic mark used by the Gebrüder Gabler (Gabler Brothers of Schorndorf, Germany). Slightly off round but otherwise fine - free of holes, dents, damage and repairs. Height approx. 2.3 cm; internal base diameter approx 1.6 cm; weight 4.7 grams.
