VINTAGE BING & GRONDAHL
"SEAGULL" COFFEE POT

Up for sale is a fine porcelain coffee pot made by the Bing & Grondahl Porcelain Factory in Denmark. The pattern name is referred to as "Seagull", a popular design produced by B&G for more than 100 years (1895 to 1997). The design has a nautical theme with flying seagulls, fish head handle, and shell finial. This coffee pot stands about 9 1/2" tall to the top of the finial (7 3/4" tall with lid removed). It has a 5 cup capacity (shape 91A). The underside of the base is marked with the B&G logo used between 1952 and 1957. I purchased this coffee pot at an estate sale several weeks ago.

If you're not already familiar with this internationally renowned company, it was founded in 1853 by Frederick Vilhelm Grondahl (a young artist and sculptor) and M.H. and J.H. Bing (successful businessmen in Copenhagen). It's reputation for production of high quality porcelain blossomed during the early 1900's. The company remained in business until 1984, when they merged with Royal Copenhagen. Bing and Grondahl’s porcelain collectibles are featured in the Buckingham Palace and the Royal Courts of Denmark, Sweden, and Great Britain. Additionally, many Bing and Grondahl collectible items can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Condition of this B&G Seagull coffee pot is EXCELLENT with no chips, cracks, or crazing. It was obviously well cared for. Overall, this vintage coffee pot looks great and displays well. It would make a fine addition to any B&G Seagull table service. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself. I think you'll be very pleased with this purchase.
