Vintage Black Americana Boy with Watermelon Salt & Pepper Shakersare sought after by collectors and rare to find.

This adorable set is a young boy who wears a red beanie, light greenoveralls with a yellow shirt sitting with his arms extended to hold a largeslice of watermelon. The Boy and theWatermelon are the shakers. These are hand painted ceramic with over glaze andwere made in Japan.

Theboymeasures 4\"H x 2¼\"W(atthe shoulders) x 2½\"L(shoes to buttocks) and the watermelon measures 1¼\"H x2½\"Land both have their original corkstoppers. The boy has a marked on his base \"E - W\" that looks like itwas added by the original owner and the watermelon is marked \"Japan\"in black ink.

Both pieces are in ExcellentCondition with very light, clean crazing, NO chips, cracks, or repairs and havetheir original cork stoppers and date to the mid/late 1940\'s ~ early/mid 1950\'s.

The boy has very tiny spots ofmissing red color on his beanie and the black paint on his top side of his arms,around his mouth, and hairline, seem to have blended with the green paint fromhis overalls prior to glazing. The watermelon has two extremely tiny spotswhere color was not applied during the painting process and paint smudges andappear to be prior to glazing.
