This is a VINTAGE, Like-NEW, MINT Condition, Hand Crafted "Hand Carved Wood Carving Wooden African Folk Art Tribal Decorative Maasai Wall Mask" handmade in Kenya, Africa in the mid-1960s. My neighbor is a doctor who spent the year of 1965 providing medical care in Kenya; this WONDERFUL Mask was given to him by a patient. Upon his return, he displayed it inside a glass cabinet with other African objects from his stay in Kenya. Packed away in the mid-1980s, it was forgotten about until it was recently rediscovered; it has been safely and securely stored for over 25 years. It is in MINT Condition with NO marks, stains, odors, chips, cracks or other damage; it comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. This Decorative Wood Wall Mask has a width of approximately 5 1/4 inches, a height of approximately 9 1/8th inches and a thickness of approximately 1/8th of an inch; it was hand Marked using chiseled dots "JAMBO - KENYA". With a graceful, curved shape and nicely detailed features, this Mask was ENTIRELY hand carved by a SUPERBLY talented Maasai artist who has created a primitively BEAUTIFUL HANDSOME Mask. The workmanship has WONDERFUL texture and flowing lines, creating a UNIQUE work of African Tribal Folk Art that is both ELEGANT and PRIMITIVE at the same time. Carved from a single piece of solid African Hardwood, the features are interesting and original mix of chiseled "tattoo" designs and hand dyed designs made with permanent black ink dye. Highly collectible, it is a thick, well-weighted piece that is a FUN and EXOTIC addition to any room and is sure to be complimented on by everyone who sees it. Hand Carved by a Maasai tribesman, the Maasai are a group of people who are known for their bright red and green artwork. This warrior Mask is typical of the colors used in the Maasai daily life, as it reflects the color of their clothing and face paint. Jambo, means Hello in Swahili.
