Vintage Celluloid Toy Wind-up Toy Ny Baseball Player For Sale
This is an old wind-up celluloid baseball player that works pretty well (sometimes he stops and you must give him a little tap for him to continue on!!). There is a dent in his left cheekand there is some rust on the bottom. The arms are jointed at the shoulders and arms move, but the elastic that connects the arms is a bit loose (not bad but mentionable) from age. When you wind him up (I only wound him about 1/2 turn so as not to break the mechanism) and set him down, he goes forward then stops, turns and goes another way, all the while looking up as if to catch the ball! Also, the key for winding is included. It is old and needs a gentle cleaning. The toy was protected inside the box, but the original box (shown in the picture)is very old, dingy, and falling apart (when you bend the flaps they just fall off). There are the letters "NY" on his left sleeve. The toy is marked "Made in Occupied Japan" which is stamped right into the celluloid on the back and it is also printed on the bottom of the box. The toy measures almost 5 1/2" tall. Insurance is required on this item. Please email me withany questions. Thanks for looking!
