Vintage Christmas Postcard. Ellen Clapsaddle. Wolf Co. No 5x. Never Mailed. For Sale
Up
for sale is a vintage Christmas postcard printed by the Wolf Company,
subsidiary of the International Art Publishing Company (New York &
Philadelphia), and designed by Ellen Clapsaddle — although the card is not
signed. The postcard is marked as “ No
5x ”
The
condition of the card is good with vibrant colors and no tears. The corners are not noticeably bumped/rounded. There is discoloration from the scrapbook
tabs that held the card for nearly 100 years. The card was not mailed but it is addressed.
The
card features a little girl in a brilliant red dress, giving her Christmas gift
to two little birds who sit outside their birdhouse. The card’s caption reads:
“My Christmas Wish. All that gives you
pleasure May this Christmas bring, Good Luck without measure To your footsteps
cling.” The Wolf & Co. N.Y. marking
is on the bottom right corner. On the
back of the card, the Wolf and Company Trademark is on the upper left corner
along with the No5x marking. The card
measures approximately 5 1/2" by 3 1/2”.
