Coast King Vintage 1960\'s bicycle. Tires are weathered, but all in all this is the original bike and it great shape for its age.Go tp was a line of bicycles built in Pennsylvania (USA) between 1950 and 1989. The range included children’s bicycles and adult’s bicycles for both sexes and they were the first company to sell a range of mountain bikes. The company was originally formed in 1940 to galvanise the bottoms of war-ships, under the name Ross Galvanising Works, owned by Sherwood Ross. When WW2 ended Ross began the production of a variety of wheeled goods including lawnmowers, wheelchairs, rollerskates, tricycles and bicycles.

Within a decade they had begun to specialize in bicycles, and soon came to rival Schwinn. The company went bankrupt in 1989, due to fierce competition from the far east. The name ROSS was purchased by Rand Cycle from the bankruptcy courts, but has not been capitalized upon as yet. The son of Sherwood Ross (Randy Ross) introduced a combined stationary and road bicycle, the Stepper bike, in 2007 which is available at numerous outlets.Ross Bicycles made bikes that were rebranded and sold by other companies. One of these companies was Coast to Coast Hardware which was established in 1928. Their stores were a common sight throughout the US until Coast to Coast became part of the True Value Hardware stores chain in 1996. Coast to Coast stores sold their own line of Coast King bikes which were made for them by Ross Bicycles.

The Starliner is a very nice bike and since it\'s not well known even among balloon bike aficionados, it\'s not as collectible so they can be bought for next to nothing.

If you\'re looking for a balloon tire bike with classic 50\'s styling, you might want to try to track down a Coast King bicycle. It might take you awhile though, because they just aren\'t that common.

But now you have found one!
