I purchased this gorgeous kimono in an antique store in Tokyo, Japan in 1989. I have no idea when or for whom it was made, but I hung it for display (protected from light and dirt) on a NYC loft wall for several years before it went into storage. While I love this piece as a work of art, it doesn\'t fit my desert life anymore...and deserves an appreciative home. The background is off white silk embroidered with golden metallic threads and the colorful plumage of phoenix birds ( red, orange, green, blue, lilac black) and golden blossoms. The lining is red silk with a heavily padded red hem. There is a silk protective cloth over part of the hem (the protective cloth has a few stains) and there are still some large basting stitches on the front. The condition is very good for its age...there are no holes or tears to the fabric. The length from the bottom of the back neck to the floor is 69 inches and the sleeves are 41 inches long. Please check back for better photos! You still can\'t see the kimono arms extended, but I\'ve tried to take some close-ups of the pattern on the arms.
