Vintage Conway Stewart N°485 Button Filler Fountain Pen (prod'n 1933-1940) :
General Description A rare Conway Stewart 485 with the button filler system that was used from 1933 to 1940 and that proved excellent by all accounts. Surprisingly Conway Stewart then standardised on lever-fill as their filler-system of choice despite the high opinion of the button-fill and its large ink capacity that meant infrequent filling.

Description-accuracy: I go to trouble always to describe goods honestly. Although for protection I tick ‘No returns’ on , if goods do not conform to my description in some specific way I will refund on return. Please take into consideration that vintage pens cannot be expected to stand up to the same scrutiny that you would bring to new pens unless they are described as being in mint condition. In particular certain types of plastic material can alter in shape and colour over the decades and my descriptions cannot include every variation that may have occurred since the pen was new. The presence or absence however, of significant scratches, cracks, dents and bite marks do form part of the general description. Most importantly, vintage pens can generally be restored to full functionality, and write beautifully – indeed often better than many modern new writing instruments that much cost more.
