Vintage Don The Beachcomber Tiki Menu Hotel Sahara Las Vegas Casino Old Barware:
Original Don The Beachcomber menu from 1966 . The item is located in Australia though there is no " Menu " section to list this item on Australian . This has copyright 1941 on the back cover as it would be one of the original menus from very first 1934 restaurant opened in 1934 on McCadden Place in Hollywood . There is a little blurb in the inside of the dinner menu which has been updated revised which talks about the 2nd Beachcomber restaurant opening up in Chicago in 1940 then the next one was opened in 1953 in Palm Springs , with this menu coming from Las Vegas Hotel Sahara which was opened in 1962 and the last one listed on this menu is the " new Saint Paul Hilton in 1966 " . So even though this is the original 1940's Beachcomber menu it has been updated in the mid to late sixties .The front cover of the menu has some fabulous drawings such as a blue whale , a 1940's surfer on a redwood plank , topless Hawaiian hula girl , outrigger canoe , flying fish , tiki , Hawaiian Islands , Tahiti , topless Tahitian Girl . On the back cover is Florida , the Bahama 's , seaplane , treasure chest and the like . Inside there are 24 hand drawn prints of various cocktails like the Zombie , Dr Funk , Daiquiri , Don Beach which has another 1940's surfer drawn on a redwood longboard surfboard , Vicious Virgin with a naked girl with a leis around her neck , Pearl Diver , Cobra's Fang and so on . There are another 36 cocktail drinks listed on the menu which are not illustrated . The actual menu part is of a smaller size than the out side cover of the menu and consists of 8 pages . With each title heading written in gold color text , Beachcomber Drinks , Standard Drinks , Appetizers , Soups , Cantonese Dinners , American Dinners ( on this page " Pacific Cabrillo has been taped over with " MAHI-MAHI Dinner " and the sticky tape has dried and yellowed over the last 40 plus years ) , Entrees , From Our Broiler ( which also has the correction taped on of MAHI-MAHI ) and finally Desserts . The menu measures 9&7/8" wide x 11&7/8" tall with the inside booklet menu part being 9&1/4" high and 9&3/4" wide .A wonderfully illustrated color menu from a superb restaurant . There are stains as can be see in close up photos the largest stain is on back cover bottom left edge opposite the gold pirates treasure chest . On front cover just above the whale at top edge , and creases at top left corner where topless Hawaiian Hula girl is holding a leis above her head . Will be packed between 2 pieces of cardboard to minimize bending in transit .Will cost $3.00 Australian dollars to pack and post within Australia . Will cost $6.45 to pack and post from Australia to anywhere in the United States .
