This tile is not "actual" cloisonne'. That exquisite, ancient, art form is normally associated with intricate Asian style vases, figurines and jewelry. THAT cloisonné requires a completely different set of materials, tools and skills. Dutch cloisonné relief tiles were produced from around 1907 until 1977 in the Westraven factory in Utrecht, and De Porceleyne Fles works in Delft, famed around the world for its blue-and-white ceramic ware. The back of this piece is marked with the image of two ravens facing one another on a stack of tiles, below the name of the Westraven factory in Utrecht. The words below that: wettig gedeponeerd- means registered. This piece measures approx 4 3/4" x 6" and is approx1/2" thick. There appears to be a fle bite chip around the woman's elbow on the right hand side, edge, otherwise noted In great condition. This is a gorgeous and unique piece of art with vibrant colors!
