Vintage Elgin Starburst Sunburst Atomic Wall Clock 50's 60's Era For Sale
This vintage Elgin starburst atomic wall clock is as classic and retro as it gets. This is probably the most sought after wall clock from the era. This one is fresh from Grandma's living room and is ready to beplaced in your retro styled decor.
The clock is in excellent condition for its age. It has all of its pieces, and there isn't any rust on the body of the clock. There is a perfect amount of tarnish / "Patina" on the brass which makes it look great. I was told not to polish it as it will take away from the value of the clock. There is also a bit of nicotine under the number 6, Grandma was a smoker, but again I did not clean the face or any part of the clock for that matter. I have watched enough of these popular antique shows on TV that warn against cleaning or polishing unless your an expert, which I am not.All I didwas placea new AA battery in it and its been keeping perfect time for weeks.
The clock measures30.5 inches from wooden spoke to spoke, top to bottom and side to side. The clock body is 7 inches in diameter.
The only flaw is that one of the wooden spokes is missing the brass clamp that holds it in place (see the 2 last pictures). This isn't much of a problem as long as your place this spoke on the top of the clock above the number 12. This is was Grandma did and its been that way for years without falling off.
I would love to keep this heirloom, but it doesn't match my decor and I would rather someone else enjoy it than to pack it away only to get lost or broken.
I will disassemble the clock for shipping and it will be packed very carefully. Reassembly will be quite easy as all of the brass rods screw on to the body of the clock and the wood spokes just push on.
Shipping will be USPS priority to the USA only. Payment by Paypal only please. Thanks.
