A delightful vintage English sterling silver pin dish with a commemorative solid silver medal or coin of Winston Churchill. The dish with its coin was issued by Spink & Son, Royal silversmith and medalist to her majesty the Queen. One side depicts bust of Churchill with books and art brushes behind, Kovacs, WINSTON CHURCHILL/1874-1965 in two lines to the base. On the reverse: a British soldier in a defiant pose on shore with aircraft and waves approaching with \"Very Well, Alone\", LOW DES, SPINK FEC on 2 lines below. The dish itself is marked with S&Sn, a lion for sterling silver, a lion head for London and a letter \"k\" for 1965. The dish is 3 3/4 inches in diameter (95 mm), the coin is 1 1/2 inch (37 mm) in diameter.
The piece weights 97 grams.
The dish is in excellent condition.This very rare dish commemorating Sir Winston Churchill\'s life will be a wonderful addition to any Churchill\'s collection.
