This is an earlier version of the Fisher Price Airport play set Mp. 996. The terminal building has a swiveling jet-way that can be used to load the jet airliner. With the jet-way extended, the building measures approx. 22” X 13” X 11”. The crank on the top platform operates the baggage carousel and, when the helicopter is attached to a nub on the platform, also makes the rotors spin. This set included the original Little People figures and they can be positioned in the walkways, jetway, ramps and control tower. Box is marked ©1972 but this basic No. 996 building was released with various Jet Port and Airport sets up until 1976.

This set has been played with and is missing a few pieces. The terminal is in good condition with clean decals and all working parts. There are some scuffs on the upper platform but, overall, graphics are q uite clean. There are no cracks or breaks. The Airliner is comlete with no broken wings or wheels but the door doesn’t stay tightly closed. Original pilot is intact. Figures can be placed inside. Helicopter is the orange and yellow version and has one broken rotor. Only 1 baggage cvart is here. The tractor and other cart are missing. The Jet Fuel cart is also missing. One small white car is here but the other transport car has been replaced with a Jeep-like 4-passenger car, which I don’t believe is original but is in good shape and included anyway.

All of the Airport/Jet Port sets came with 6 Original Little People (1-1/2” to 2-1/4”). This set has 9 Little People. It appears to have the original 6 figures with wooden bodies and plastic heads and 3 additional figures with plastic bodies and heads. The set originally had 4 pieces of luggage (2 hatboxes and 2 suitcases). Only the 2 suitcases are here.

The box has some wear with bends, a few small tears and tape on one end but will still display well.
