Vintage Gold Cap Windsor Fountain Pen Lever Fill Gold Cap Maroon Body 14k Nib For Sale
Vintage GOLD CAP WINDSOR FOUNTAIN PEN Lever Fill Gold Cap
Maroon Body 14K Nib Ink Sac
A fine example of a Windsor fountain
pen, featuring gold color cap, clip, fill lever, and 14K gold
For the avid pen collector, we have
real rarity. This vintage Windsor fountain pen features a gold
cap and clip, as well as a gold color lever. The nib is 14K
gold, and it has a dark maroon plastic body. Unlike many pens
of this age, this one has what appears to be a fully intact
ink sac that is still supple. Whether this is an original part
or something added later, it is one less component for the avid
restorer to worry about.
Windsor was a brand applied to pens
manufactured by Raymond & White of Chicago. Windsor’s products
(pens, mechanical pencils, and costume jewelry) were priced
at $25.00 or less and were sold primarily as gifts (frequently
packaged in mixed sets with flashlights and other items). The
company’s advertising tag line was “Useful Gifts for Everyone.”
The pen measures 5 inches long capped
and 6 inches long posted. It weighs .6 ounces.
We estimate from our research that
this pen dates from the 1950s, and as such it has the normal
wear one would expect with an item of this age. The lever appears
to work well, and as we stated before, the ink sac appears supple.
It is recommended the pen be reconditioned, but should serve
the new owner well for a long time.
This pen is a rare item and will make
a great addition to anyone's vintage fountain pen collection.
