This is an authentic vintage and highly collectible HERMES silk scarf. The design "Fantaisies Indiennes" was a limited issue in 1985-86 commemorating the first space travel by an Indian astronaut. Rakesh Sharma joined a Soviet space voyage in 1984. The scarf is signed by designer Loic Debige. This scarf was purchased in 1985 in Paris and is signed with Hermes Paris and the copyright symbol. I am the one and only owner.

This scarf has a background color of saffron with a center in charcoal grey. There is also a 3/4 inch band of charcoal band close to the outer edge. There is a 3" panel border around the scarf that depicts life in early India - featuring carriages, animals, people. Each corner features a horse and rider in different dress. The center has an all-over pattern of a tree with flower blossoms and leaves of various size and color. The beautifully complimentary colors are lavender, purple, emerald green and turquoise.

What makes this scarf so unusual is, in addition to the dates on the scarf, the small rendition of an astronaut in white with Rakesh Sharma name on either side. See the 4th picture.

Scarf dimensions: 35" x 35". This scarf is in perfect condition. The hand-rolled edge is without damage and there are no visible signs of runs, pulls, snags, or stains. The care tag has been gently removed.

The scarf has been stored in a smoke and pet free environment.
