Many of you know us as longtime collectors and sellers of vintage and antique Hallowe'en holidaymemorabilia, antique dolls, old toys, and lovely old china and glassware. It’s only a little over three months until our favorite holiday! For your all-year-long Hallowe'en loving pleasure, we are HAUNTINGly happy to present a REALLY,REALLYBIG vintage Hallowe'en pulp Jack o' Lantern from the 1930s or 1940s. This huge, smilin’ Jack is in all-original, VERY FINEPLUS condition! Big is BOOtiful!

Please note: this is anAUTHENTIC, vintage item and NOT a reproduction!!! The company that made this lantern was called the Pulp Reproduction Company, which was located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This Jack retains its original label on the underside stating this, along with the words Made in USA.

Please meet Doozy! Made from pressed paper pulp, which is often referred to as paper or papier mache, this is as far as we’re aware one of the largest Jack o' Lantern designs ever made from this material. Doozy has his all-original paint with a FRIGHTfully fabulous semi-sheen in wonderful shades of old brownish-orange and bright green that accents his bottom and handsome eyebrows. Hispaper insert is in colors of navy blue, golden yellow, old red and ivory white.

Doozy retains his original waxed paper insert in near mint condition and his original wire bale handle as well. One of Ziz’s favorite adages is: the larger the decoration the higher the likelihood of damage, particularly with a piece that was intended for actual use. We think Doozy is in MAGICally magnificent condition for his age and size! Lanterns such as this one were meant to be lit on All Hallows' Eve using real wax candles – YIKES! To give Doozy his warm and inviting and haunting glow, we used a battery-operated candle now found at most craft stores.

This happy yet scary-looking pumpkin guy measures 7 ½” tall (9 ½” to the top of the handle) x 9” wide x 7 ½” deep.

His exact condition is as follows: there is a scuff at his lower lip and a few small ones around the underside rim. The original plug with its label is present and appears to be unused! This label was sooften removed!We seeNO burn marks or wax residue in his interior, so we must assume he was never allowed to do his Hallowe'en thing. There are a few tiny scuff marks near a side seam. The only issue keeping this lantern from being in near mint condition is that there is some pulp loss at the bottom and three small holes to the back only. Please see photos. The paper insert, giving Doozy his WICKEDly wonderful expression, shows no tears or holes, but has some pieces of old tape holding it in place. The insert sits perfectly. There is an old drip mark near a side seam that only adds to his super-SPOOKY charm.

In all of our years of collecting and sharing vintage Hallowe'en memorabilia, this is the largest Jack o' Lantern in the best condition we have ever been able to offer on . We think he would make a superb addition for the collector. If you wish to decorate with only one “knock-em-DEAD” Hallowe'en item, then Doozy may be all that you need!
