Vintage Hand Woven Lidded Native African Zulu Beer Basket For Sale
Up for sale is a well-crafted round coiled grass basket made by the Zulu, one of the tribes of East Africa. The weavers of this area are renowned for the fineness and attractiveness of their weaving, and have raised their basketry into a true art form. The basket is one of the traditional Zulu styles, with its rounded body and lid with the woven top finial. The basket has a deep shape with an attractive zigzag pattern in a variety of earthtone colors around the perimeter. The underside has the traditional woven start. This attractive and symmetrical basket makes a very nice piece for display.
The basket, as noted, is a nice medium size, measuring 4½" across at the widest point, and with a nice deep shape, about 6¾" deep to the top of the finial. This attractive basket is in just outstanding condition with no breaks, stains, or any other damage. See photos, as they give a true picture of the basket's features and condition. A very nice and well-crafted native tribal basket from Africa!
