Vintage Hitty Travel Doll Stone Plaster Cloth Unique Girl By Artist Mary Zeasman For Sale
Vintage Hitty Travel Doll Stone Plaster Cloth Unique Girl by Artist Mary Zeasman
On July 8 we attended the Estate Sale of Mary V. Zeasman of Madison Wisconsin, who was a prominent collector and world traveler. Mary collected dolls, art, and was an accomplished seamstress. This is one of the items acquired at that estate sale.
I believe this Hitty was made by Mary herself as a project maybe for one of the many Hitty Conferences that she attended. I am pretty sure she attended the Williamsburg Tea and also the one held in Madison WI. I am not where this cute little Hitty girl traveled? Only she knows and surely will tell her new owner all about it.
With that said Mary did a wonderful job with her. She is made with a stone plaster head, lower arms and lower legs. Her body is cloth with sewn joints so she is pose-able.
Stone plaster head, lower arms and legs.
Her face is just darling. She has shiny jet black hair, rosy cheeks and blue eyes.
Please note that the white spots on her head are glare from the camera. No paint loss.
Mary taught sewing for many years, here in the US, Guam and also Australia so I am always amazed at her workmanship and the skill that is involved.
This little dress is no exception. Her dress looks rather plain to the eye at first glance but take a look at the close up of the black decoration and you will see what I mean. It looks like a twisted chain or twisted rope stitch. Very nicely done. The dress is a lovely dark green.
This little antique satin dress is completely hand done. She also wears pantaloons with matching lace.
Stands 8 1/2" tall. A cute little folk art Hitty doll to add to your collection.
Hitty has a wardrobe that includes factory R dresses, hats, and accessories that will be listed soon so please check back with us.
Truly a one of a kind from Mary V. Zeasman of Madison WI.
