Vintage Hopi Wupamo Kachina Doll Circa 1960 By Emory Pohouma:
Up for sale is a Vintage Hopi Wupamo (Long-Tongue) Kachina Doll by Emory Pohouma, a well-known Hopi carver actively working in the 1950s and 60s. His work is found in museum collections such as The Maxwell Museum of Anthropology in Albuquerque and in many private collections around the world. The Wupamo measures 12 inches tall and is meant to hang on the wall as one foot is raised as if he were dancing. He is in very good condition with a little bit of restoration to the top of the head. The middle "feather" carved from wood was put back on and the blue rod coming out of his head left of the center feather was replaced. He is a large doll with a lot of presence by a famous Hopi carver of an earlier era. He would make a fine addition to any collection of Hopi Kachina Dolls. I am starting this sale with a low opening offer. The high-buyer pays $6.50 for S&H, int'l-buyers pay the actual shipping. I accept payment by m.o. or through paypal.
