This is a vintage 1970\'s abstract brooch/pendant (has hardware for both) signed TUMARKIN. It was designed by Israeli IGAEL TUMARKIN, (1933-) a painter and sculptor, and is entitled \"Prisoner of Conscience\", a tribute to the Holocaust. \"Among Tumarkin\'s best known works are the Holocaust and Revival memorial in Rabin Square, Tel Aviv and his sculptures commemorating fallen soldiers in the Negrev. Tumarkin\'s sculptures were placed all over the world and he gained international recognition. In Israel he was one of the dominant figures in modern Israeli art. A feature of his art is its connection to the history of the country. Israeli ideals, wars, and the social situation were all part of his artistic content. The fact that his art involved controversial political statements created enormous objection to his being awarded the Israel Prize in 2004.\" This piece Brutalist style piece is 2 1/2\" high, with an antiqued goldtone finish, and does have plating wear (hard to tell due to the type (antiqued goldtone) finish.
