Made in the U.S.A. several decades ago in Fruita, Colorado, this item is a Rare Vintage Custom Made by Jack Hilton Coffin Handle Ghost Mark Fixed Blade Drop Point Hunting / Skinning Boot Knife with Filework and Original Matching Custom Leather Sheath with Clip.
Jack Hilton is known as the real life Superman after being shot in the neck point blank with a 58 caliber muzzle loader rifle and surviving (hence his famous ghost mark). His knives are really desireable and highly sought after. He no longer makes knives and, I am told, he now lives in Arizona. He is known as a legendary knife maker in the Rocky Mountain West (please feel free to do a Google search for "Jack Hilton Knifemaker").
This knife comes to you in UNUSED / UNSHARPENED excellent instead of near mint because of a couple tiny tarnish spot pits on blade near spine.(Really minor!)No rust! No pin cracks! No blade wobble! Knife has only been lightly handled over the past several decades! Custom sheath is near perfect with strong spring belt or boot clip and no worn or missing stitches! Knife is really tight and really clean!
This old beauty has an overall length of 8 1/2", classic skinner blade measures 4 1/2" and blade tang near engraved filework spine is marked with a "Ghost" (Jack Hilton Custom Signature Mark). It sports beautiful coffin shaped flame and tiger maple scales (handles) stained in a walnut stain and pinned with a dozen brass pins. It also sports a filework spine that is almost 1/4" thick that tapers to a razor sharp edge and tang is also filed and surrounded by red spacers. Quick draw sheath fits knife perfectly and can be worn either on a belt or in a boot. This rare beautiful knife just screams of high quality.
