Vintage Japanese Kimono Authentic Boro Shima Cotton Noragi Happi Hanten B35:
I have quite a lot of stock in vintage haoris, kimono, happis, etc. I will try a few here on and see if it is worth the time and trouble. If there is no response (watchers, etc) within a reasonable time, I will simply end the listing. All pieces are also available for purchase in my brick and mortar store.Since 20% (or more) of this listing will disappear in assorted fees and shipping costs, it isn't as though I'd be getting rich by selling here instead of the shop, so I'm leaving both options open.If the item sells in the shop, I will instantly end the listing here.
The pictures could be clearer, but they are small pictures from my old website and insisted on enlarging them, thereby losing some of the resolution. The good news is that the garment you receive will be even more beautiful than the pictures portray. This is a vintage garment, Japanese made; not those recent ones made last week in China that look like they were sewn in the dark. Body width measurements are taken with the garment lying flat; double this measurement and compare it to your chest measurement.
Vintage Japanese Kimono Authentic Boro Shima Noragi Happi Hanten B35
Pattern: Shima (stripe) in grey (probably once either blue or white) and pink (faded to near nonexistence over most of garment) on an indigo ground. Shoulder liner of plain, faded indigo blue cotton.Comments: Boro, with mended and partially mended areas at shoulders and an open seam at the back of the sleeve on wearer's right. Jacket has side slits and has a different shima fabric reinforcing the interior of the cuffs. The picture featuring the small mended hole goes with the picture of the larger square mending patch placed on the inside of the jacket; I showed it because of the care taken that the pattern on the patch lined up with the pattern of the jacket. The seam opening is NOT a rip or tear; it is stitching that needs to be replaced and sewing is beyond my talents. Apart from that seam, the jacket is actually structurally sound and wearable for those of us in love with boro fabrics. This will provide a lot of great fabric if you wish to re-purpose it in that way.
