1940s Large Reverse Carved LUCITE Figural CRAB PIN Vintage Plastic Chunky Brooch:

What a fabulous reverse-carved Lucite crab figural! This chunky fellow measures about 2-5/8 inches wide (leg to leg) and is 2 inches tall from back foot totip of pincer (see picture with penny as reference to size). He has a silver-tone finish but somebrassy-colored metal can be seen in a few places where the silverplating is worn. The body is a beautiful, golden amber colored Lucite which has a reverse-carved circular design. He is accented with white rhinestones on front pincers and eyes. Great, chunky figural likely from the 1940s.

CONDITION:LOTS of pictures - please be sure to see them ALLas they are part of the description & condition. Some wear to silver-tone plating where a little brass is showing. Rhinestones are all present andshow a little age-related discolorationwith some scratches. Lucite shows light surface scratches. There isa linear imperfectionwithin the Lucite close to the surface on the back measuring about 3/8 inch long. It looks like it was made when the long metal peg was inserted into the Lucite to hold it in place. It appears to be close to the reverse-carved surface on the back (visible in several pictures). Pin-stem is brass and to insert it into the clasp, you have to give it a little push as it is a tight fit (at least you won\'t lose the pin if it happens to come unclasped!). Roll-over clasp holds securely. One of the previous owners put a bit of glue on the two long pegs that insert into the Lucite on the back.
