Here is a vintage oil on canvas portrait of a beautiful woman in a soft pink gown. The painting measures 24 x 30 ins. and is signed Garth Benton at the bottom left. Garth Benton( aka Paul Garfield Benton) was a world-renowned muralist painter who did large commissioned murals for many famous celebrities and wealthy patrons. He died in 2012 and was a California artist.
I do not have any history on who this woman is, I bought it in a mountain town and I believe it was purchased at an sale.The painting is in good/very good as is vintage condition. It has some tiny indentations on the edges in a few spots from a previous frame but that is all. The woman in the painting has a 1940s hairstyle but I believe the painting is from the 1950-60s time period. She definitely has a revealing decolletage, which is more common in late 1950s to early 60\'s paintings than 40s artwork.
