Vintage Leather Staten Island No 79 Firemans Helmet Cairns New York Firefighter:
Here is a fantastic piece of firefighting history. Fresh out of an estate...This helmet belonged to a John H. Rich, who worked on Hook and Ladder No. 79 in Staten Island, NY from the 1930's to 1960's. Mr. Rich started out working as a Harbor Police Officer until he was shot, and then switched careers to Firefighting. The leather helmet is in good vintage condition..showing its wear. The tag is marked "Cairns & Brother Inc Mfrs of Firemens Equipment & Supplies Clifton New Jersey" The liner tag is marked "Cairns Sanitary Cushion lining Patented #1575251". A really great addition for any collection.
