Vintage Margot De Taxco Sterling Silver Modernist Enamel Mexican Mexico Necklace For Sale
Vintage Margot de Taxco Sterling Silver Modernist Enamel Mexican Mexico Necklace
This sale is for a finely made and beautifully designed, sterling silver and enamel modernist necklace, that was made by Margot de Taxco. This piece has silver marks for Margot de Taxco and the design number of this piece is "5556". This piece has the "ribbon & curl" design that is a book piece but is done in one color of enamel. The necklace measures 14 1/2" long, the pendant drops another 2" below that and is 1 1/4" wide at its widest point, and the links along the chain are 1/4" wide. The necklace closes securely with its original hidden push clasp and weighs 60 grams. This piece is unique for its sleek and modern design that is accented with black enamel for a very classic and wearable design. The necklace is flat at the back so the piece lays very flush and frames the neckline strikingly. The necklace has two "squares" of enamel up near the top of the pendant that have significant and deep chips but they are not noticeable as the piece is worn and there are no other chips or thinning to the enamel. The enamel has very little surface wear and has a nice sheen to the finish which contrasts beautifully with the brightness of the silver. The sterling "ribbons" in the pendant do appear to have had a repair, looking at the back there is some spots of solder that don't look original to the piece, and that solder shows through just to the right side of the very center of the pendant. The repair was done well - the ribbons are very secure and it is noticeable only upon inspection and consideration of the piece. There are no other signs of solder or repair to the piece and the silver has a nice patina. Overall this is a finely made and beautifully designed, sterling silver and enamel modernist necklace, that was made by Margot de Taxco and is in very good condition.
