This is is one of nicest sounding Martin D-18s you will ever play. It\'s very similar to what you\'ll hear with the D-18 guitars of David Grier and Kenny Smith. It truly is.

Serial #101xxx, made in July of that year. It is everything you would expect to hear from a D-18 from this period and a bit more.It features the larger neck profile and more radically tapered bracing. Thesoundis deep and complex. It makes you laugh it sounds so good. The top is a reddish brown Sitka spruce.

Repairs & Setup Work

Has had a neck reset with the actionat 3/32\" bass side and 2/32\" treble side. As you can see in the photos there is plenty of room in the saddle to be adjusted over time if need be. The playability of this guitar is exceptional.

Bone 3/32\" wide Saddle (saddle height is .098\" at center)

Frets are in very good condition as the guitar was professionally re-fretted currently they are .080\" x .038\"

Bridge pins and end pin have been replaced with high quality ebony pins

Nut width is 1.686\"

There are several repaired top & back cracks. As you can see from the photos there was some damage to the bass side lower bout. Visually the repair is of low quality but miraculously they did not refinish the guitar and or do any further damage while repairing. They apparently glued the fracture back together and sanded on the outside of the repair and did not do any touchup work. There is a small area that is repaired with lacquer stick that is the opaque color on the soundboard at the site of the repair. These are purely cosmetic issues that do not affect the sound of the guitar one iota. To the contrary, this is a professional musician\'s guitar. I\'ve chosen not to refine these areas so as to not alter the pristine sound of the guitar.

Case is a custom USA made Hoffee hard shell case with brand new cover that all told sells for $1500. These cases arearguably the finest guitar cases made anywhere, that will withstand the coldest and hottest climates and physically being run over by a Mack Truck.
