This sale is for a Vintage, 1950's necklace and bracelet set from Matisse. Matisse, Ltd. was founded in Los Angeles by Jerry Fels and his family in 1952. It manufactured copper jewelry with enamel decoration to the surface of the copper metal. Mark: "Matisse" in script, and "Ltd. Matisse", "Renoir/Matisse with a copyright symbol". The firm ceased operations around 1964. This company’s copper metal costume jewelry is highly collectible.
This set, called Nefertiti, was part of the Egyptian Revival movement. It's done in blue enamel with white specks around the edges. Each piece on the bracelet and necklace are set in alternating sizes. The bracelet and necklace are signed on the clasps.
The necklace measures 17-1/2"long x 1-3/8" wide and the bracelet is 7-1/2"long x 1" wide.
