Authentic VintageMens Longines Diamond Watch in Excellent Condition Here is a handsome mens watch from the world renownd Longines watch company. The watch is original and comes Longines signed on the case, crown, dial and movement. It is fully working and keeping good time andis ready to wear. This is a classic Longines with stunning looks and style. This model is rarely seen and I believe it was called the Diamond Jubilee by Longines. I date this watch to late 1960s to early 1970s. The later models had fixed bands. The earlier models such as this had the pin fit bands which are simple to change.
The Longines signed case is a rectangular shape with a slight curve to its top. In typical Longines fashion the case doesn't stop on the outside. Take a look under the crystal and you'll see the case extends inside on each corner to create the oval face. The corners are textured in a fine sparkly patina. The whole case, including the back is a deep and rich 10k whitegold fill and is in excellent condition withminimal wear. The back is fully signed on the inside by Longines and also has case numbers and other details. The case measures approximately 37mm x 24mm inc lugs.
The original dial is black and at the 12, 2,4, 6, 8&10 positions it has a fancy white gold setting each holding a nice sized genuine diamond. The other hour positions havegold raised, multi-faceted studs which glimmer in the light. The "Longines" name is below the 12.It showsa few bubbles under the finish at angles butstill looks really good. The large crystal islucite and is intact and in decent condition with a few light wisps.
The original Longines signed movement is a 528 grade 17j model. It is very clean, fully working and keeping good time. The crown also has the Longines emblem. The watch comes complete withblack leather band.
Good luck and thanks for looking at this fantastic high grade and Authentic LONGINES Watch.watches such as this are rarely seen and make wonderful gifts, whether it be for Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries or Christmas, they are always going to be gratefully received. Vintage watches will always gain in value andwill last many more generations if looked after. Many thanks for looking and good luck.
LONGINES - WITTNAUER WATCH COMPANY Longines Watch Company was started in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz who opened a workshop in St Imier,Switzerland. He operated a "Home Business" whereworkers would work on watches from there own homes, whichAgassizwould later sell. Sometime between 1854 and 1866Agassizhanded over the operation of his watchmaking business to his nephew Ernest Francillon. Francillon soon built a factory in Les Longines near St. Imier and consolidated all of the areas watchmaking under one roof. The Longines name was born. The company began producing chronographs in 1879. They later produced aviator watches and cockpit instruments. The company registered its world known "Winged Hourglass" trademark in May of 1890. In 1912 Longines produced the first automatic timekeeping device. From that day onLongines has long been associated with time-keeping at major sporting events including the Olympics. In 1936 Longines purchased theWittnauerwatch company, who had, since 1880 been the sole sales agent in the USA for Longinesand marketed a number of very similar lines of watches under both brand names. Longines Wittnauerhas now becomeone of the finest watches a collector can find because of theelegant and timeless designs, the accuracy and reliability and thereadily available parts. The Longines - Wittnauer partnershipspanned114 years before their split and Wittnauer was purchased by the SMH group in 1994 who also owned such names as Hamilton, Tissot and Omega.
