Up for sale is a nice old antique late1800/early 1900s German made \"Mittenwald\" 2 pc back full size violin for setup/restoration. The nicely figured 2 pc. curly maple back measures 14 1/4 by 8 inches. There are no bassbar or soundpost cracks on the violin. The scroll and pegbox are in good condition and the neck is solid. The pegbox has a cheek repair at the A peg hole. The repair was professionally done and the peg holds tune (please check pics). The fingerboard and pegs are ebony. The pegs turn smoothly and the fingerboard is in nice condition. The soundpost is standing inside the violin and there are no open seams. The violin is not labelled. It would have been made in the style of a Neuner and Hornsteiner in Mittenwald Germany. The violin is for setup/restoration. The violin has age related scratches/wearmarks on the varnish (please check pics). The violin had been setup with Dominant strings that are in like new condition.They appear to have not been played on. Please check pics. and email questions. More pics. available upon request.
