Vintage Pair Figurines Spanish Mexican Man Woman Hand Painted Japan:
You are viewing a pair of figurines that have the marking "Handpainted Japan" on the bottom of both. I believe they are depicting a Mexican couple and look to be a set based on the bases being painted identically. The man is standing next to a cactus, wearing a sombrero and has a beautiful scarf/blanket over his shoulder. The woman is wearing a crown or tiara of some kind and has a beautiful tiered skirt. I am unsure of the age of these but they came from my Grandmother's house and are at least from the 1950's. Colors are vibrant and fun! Unusual pair!
Approximate measurements are:
Woman: 6" Tall x 2 1/2" Wide at the widest point - her skirt x 1 1/2" Deep at the deepest point - her skirt
Man: 6" Tall x 2" wide at the widest points x 1 1'2" Deep at the deepest points
Please review photos carefully. I cannot find any chips or cracks. Some of the paint looks smeared on parts but when I look at it carefully it is definitely how they were painted and glazed originally.
