VINTAGE Paper Mache composite Easter BUNNY RABBIT CANDY Container glass eyes
For sale is a Paper Mâché Composite Rabbit Candy Container. Many of these were made in Germany although there is no mark confirming the country of origin on this piece.
These adorable little Rabbits were made in the Victorian Era for the purpose for storing candy and sweets.
This rabbit has wonderful original glass eyes
It measures 6" from tip of tail to forward front left paw. He stands 6 3/8" from front paws to tip of ears. He weighs a little over 4.5 ounces and appears to be a sturdy little fellow.
There have been some nicely made repairs on this rabbit, and everything is strong and stable. There is some paint chipping, as well as areas that have been touched up. All in all, I feel this rabbit is in nice condition, and believe it is from the 1980’s – 90’s. This Rabbit would be a wonderful contribution to a collection.
I believe this is a very rare version of these rabbits and is the one listed in the 2001 Maine Antique Digest. It sold then for $695.00. The news paper clipping will be included in the sale, and can be seen in the sale photos.
