It\'s hard to believe that this Peanuts Cook Book is almost 50 years old. Our oldest brother ordered it in elementary school from the Scholastic Book Club, back when children read books, when watching a TV show was a novelty, andwhen free-time meant playing outside until the street lights came on.

This book was a kid-friendly cookbook, and it motivated us, on several occasions, to create a \"restaurant\" (with our ownmenus). While adults waited patiently, we made inspired cuisine like the \"Cinnamon Toast\" in this book, served with Lucky Charms, Frankenberry orQuisp cereal.

This popular 5.5\" square paperback has 64 hot-pink pages, with 23 recipes (22 for people andone for your own Snoopy). You can try Peanuts\' Peanut Brittle, Lucy\'s Applesauce Pie, Red Baron Root Beer, Linus\'s Lemon-Pineapple-Carrot Salad,Sally\'s Scrambled Eggs, Divine Divinity, Schroeder\'s Chocolate Sauce, andthe Great Pumpkin Cookies.

Written with common sense for kids, the icing recipe, for example, requires an already baked cake. The cartoons are pleasant and light-hearted, emphasizing what used to be the big questions in kid world, i.e., which chocolate candy do I pick (since I only get one piece) or when should I feed the dog.In stark contrast to today\'s24/7 media addiction anditsendless hammering of political correctness and social change, this book is a refreshing reminder that there was and is another way to live.

This copy is in remarkably nice shape,mainly due to being stored in a box for years. Book complete and intact (1970, 2nd Printing). Cardstock cover still retains some gloss,spine has creases,corner edges only showminimalwear. Although perhaps meriting a higher rating, we are listing it as Good condition, dueto the back cover pencil name of \"Snopp\" written to label the cartoon. Aside from the owner\'s name on the inside cover,remainingpages are fresh and clean. Also, given its age, the paperback should be handled with care. Wrapped with care and shipped in a box.
