SOURCE: WWHAM bought the aviation photo collection of Lieutenant Raymond Poterack from Grand Rapids, Michigan, who was a Navy pilot in World War II. In the 1940's and 1950's he collected historic WWI & WWII aviation photos. After WWII he became an engineer with McDonnell Douglas and was on the design team for the F-4 Phantom jet fighter. He died in 2008. The photos are now in the archives of the World War History & Art Museum (WWHAM) in Alliance, Ohio. WWHAM has several unique exhibits including a world class collection of 325 original paintings and drawings by the troops of WWI, trench art, an HO scal model of the German 2nd Panzer Division in 1944 with 15,000 pieces, women in WWII, original WWII aviation art, the history of toy soldiers, and more.
