Vintage Portable AM Radio - Airline Brand - Parts or Repair - Vacuum Tubes:
$29.99

Airline Montgomery Wards portable radio.

Best guess is it dates from the 1930s.

Model No. 15RD7.

Tube operation.

AM dial.

Plugs into a standard wall outlet.

Also operateson a battery, but the battery is not in the chassis.

The tube chassis appears to be complete - no missing tubes.

13 inches wide / 6 1/2 inches deep / 10 inches tall.

This is a parts or repair offer.

Condition: I plugged the radio in to an outlet and as the tubes warmed up I got a low level hum. I could not get any sound other than that. The tube chassis looks to be in good condition. The electrical cord is workable but as old as the radio. The back door fabric has rotted and the hinges have turned green with corrosion. The entire fabric cabinet is heavily stained. Yet the speaker grill fabric is in good condition. The knobs work. The on/off/battery switch clicks nicely; the tuning knob turns the dial needle; and the volume knob turns freely. The hinged latches that hold the door cover in place work, but are rusty. The carrying handle is gone and the two fasteners are rusty. The battery is missing.
