You are looking at a very unique and rare Amperite RBHG \"velocity\" ribbon microphone made in New York City during the mid 1950\'s.
This one of the rarest microphones from Amperite and you just never see them around. It has a very industrial look to it and built like a tank! Almost impossible to destroy this microphone. Quite large as well and the same size as a 1st generation Shure 55 Fatboy. You can almost picture Frankenstein singing into this beast.
As you can see in the pictures provided this beautiful microphone has been used very little over the years and the original polished finish is free of any dents but there are the smallest of dings, nicks and scratches. Please let the detailed pictures be your guide. The mic was very well taken care of over the decades and seems to have been stuck in time.
This mic has been cleaned and tested. This is one of thestronger early ribbon mics and the signal strenght is damn near 100% even with the long 20 foot cable. It can absolutely be used for recording or broadcasting purposes. If you want even stronger boost I suggest an inline transformer or \"fathead\". You can always tweak the sound with an E.Q. but it rated at High Z. it actually has more of a warm mid tone to it if you ask me? just what you expect from a ribbon mic. Amazingly the ribbon does appear to be original.
The on / off switch works perfectly. Mic will screw on to any American desk or floor stand and the threading is universal...always a plus! Mic is 100% original and will only increase in price with age.

The vintage cable is in excellent condition and has the detachable switchcraft 1/4 inch connector which is a bonus but you\'ll want to make sure it\'s crewed on tightly as when it comes lose you\'ll lose connection to the mic. The cable itself is 20 feet long. More than long enough for any stage use.
Extensive info on this variant of the RBHG models are hard to find and these mics were not produced for very long making them uber hard to find and highly collectible. Cosmetically speaking this mic is an easy 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. The listing for this mic is shown in pic # 2 from an old encyclopedia I have.
