You are looking at a one of the rarest microphones built by Electro Voice during the mid 1950\'s in Buchanan, Michigan and would make not only a great addition to the vintage mic collection but is still very worthy of use for broadcasting or harp use.
The 645 model mic isa highly polished chrome mic with a high output dynamic element and an adjustable impedance switch you could use for a whole range of applications. These mics were quite expensive and generally cost 3 to 4 times more than most of the mics E.V was producing at the time. I have heard these with good elements and they sound fantastic. This one happens to be one of them. Tested and sound good.
The 650 had the revolutionary XLR connection which very few mics had at that time. The dual switch on the lower pistol grip does work just as intended for High and Low Z. As seen in the pics provided the mic does have wear in the form of tiny scratches and small spots of fine pitting but overall one of the nicest 645\'s I have personally seen and I\'ve only seen 3 of these before. They are just that hard to come by. It still has an impressive luster to it and the body is free of any unwanted engravings or dents. The E.V badge looks brand new still very legible.
The mic is quite large and resembles a sledgehammer. 5 inches tall X 5 inches long and 2 inches wide. Weighing in at a solid 2 pounds she\'s built like a tank. No loose or missing parts. Joint mechanism works perfectly.
If you are a hardcore collector of vintage mics then you\'ll appreciate one of these hard to find 650\'s. A funky mic to display and sure to draw attention anywhere it sits.
