This Douglas, Air Cooled pipe is something I acquired along with several other rare pipes. A Google search led me to an advertisement which explained that the Douglas Air Cooled pipe was made in the 1930\'s. It went on to explain about the \"pin hole vent\" and \"cooling chamber\". The pipe was designed so that cool clean air will mix with the smoke. Impurities are deposited in the cooling chamber which can be cleaned by removing the cap on the bottom of the pipe. The pin hole vent can be seen on the top side of the pipe. Seems to me this pipe was about 50 years ahead of its time. I am hoping the pipe will end up in the hands of a collector who appreciates these amazing creations from the early days of pipe making.
