These musical carousels, or mosques, were originally designed to dispense cigarettes, but they also hold lipstick.
Handmade in a small town near Florence, Italy. This beautiful piece is Capodimonte Italian porcelain, finished with gold-plating over brass.
The Swiss Music Movement musical carousel features (6) rotating doors with the capodimonte cherubs in various activities on the outside and beautiful red velvet lined, gold-plated, repoussage framed pockets featuring a mandolin and trumpet design.
The doors open to "Tales from the Vienna Woods" and an old style Reuge Lyre is revealed inside. When the doors close "Blue Danube" plays.
Measures 13 1/2" to the top.
We have just had it professionally tuned and it is in excellent working condition.
There is one small spot of paint wear (under the carousel top). Overall EXCELLENT condition.
