Vintage Robe de Style Cream Silk Silver Beaded Rosette Pannier Hoop Dress
This antique robe de style cream silk silver beaded rosette pannier hoop dress dates from the late 1920s. It is made of an off white cream color sheer silk chiffon fabric, with crystal silver beading done in a floral pattern design on the top. There is a silk silver lamé ribbon belted sash, with white silk covered padded berry rosette floral trim on the front. This beautiful bridal inspired wedding dress has a robe de style which was a romantic alternative to the chemise dress popular in the 1920s. It has a drop waist style, sleeveless, with wide armhole openings, a pannier hoop sewn inside along the sides creating a low and wide flared hips style and layered skirt made up of many ruffle panel streamer strips edged in silver metallic lamé thread. There are side snap closures and it is fully lined with a cream silk slip sewn inside. The dress measures 50 inches long, with a 30 inch waist and 36 inch bust. It is in as-is fair condition and needs some restoration and would be great for design, study or pattern. The top has several frayed rips on the sides, shoulders and waist (see close-ups). The skirt is in excellent condition. This is truly a rare and unique piece of wearable Art Deco textile art!
