Vintage Roseville Pottery Pine Cone Vase, shape number 457-7, from the 1930s. This is in the beautiful green glaze - a delicate sort of quiet mint green tinged with sage that has deeper accents in crevices and around the bottom. It is a great contrast to the russet pine cone and brown “twig“ shaped handles. The vase is about 4-½“ at the tallest point and 7“ from outer handle to outer handle.
The pottery has a crazing line or hairline that is hard to photograph. I didn‘t even notice this until I inspected the vase in bright daylight near my window. It is a 1-¼“ thin line on the glaze surface - very hard to even feel - that travels from the rim down the outside in the area or edge about 2“ from the pointed end of the rim. The line travels over the rim and inside about 1“ where I can find it with my fingernail. The glaze itself is intact (no flaking) and without stain. The pottery still displays well. It does have an occasional tiny “glaze pit“, a couple of very tiny brown specks in the glaze, and a minor hint of former use (soiling in the bottom crevices, a vague suggestion of “ring around the collar”). There is light crazing on the bottom/underside. This is still a lovely and sturdy example of Roseville.
