Being offered is a vintage beaded beadwork bracelet. This was made with a leather backing. Jewelry like this were sold along Route 66 and at Wall Drugs, South Dakota. Typically, these were bought as souvenirs or momentos of a trip. The bracelet is missing the pin clip insert on one side, while the other is intact. The bracelet is colorful with Native Indian designs. Approx. 6 5/8" long by 7/8" wide.
I call thisRoute 66 jewelry which was crafted during the very early tourist trade to the southwest. These were sold in souvenir shops, tourist traps, campy Native stores, gas stations, or any roadside stop set up along the highway. Route 66 jewelry was made in Mexico along with Native American Indian jewelry for the early tourist trade to the southwest. The jewelry made in Mexico was intended to compete with Native American Indian crafted jewelry.
