Vintage Shelley Ratauds Red Duchess Gilded Trio England C1953 For Sale
Welcome to My sale
Vintage SHELLEY RATAUDS RED DUCHESS GILDED TRIO England c1953
This bone china trio, consisting of a cup, saucer and plate was manufactured by the Shelley pottery of King Street, Fenton, Staffordshire and is on the waisted Henley shape. The Pattern Number is 13401 and the Pattern Name is Ratauds Red Duchess.
All threepieces are inexcellent vintage condition (not new), being free from cracks, chips or visible crazing.
It is normal tea size, i.e. the cup stands 6cms tall, the saucer is 14.25cms in diameter, and the plate is 15.5cms in diameter.
Thedecoration which consists of Blue, Pink and Yellow flowers either side of Red/Maroon cartouches has been transfer printed. The center of the saucer and polate has a lovely posy of flowers, with a smaller version repeated inside the cup. I am not sure how this has come about, but the cup and saucer have gilded edges whilst the saucer has tan.
Please do look at the photographs, as they form a major part of the description, and make up your own mind. Any white marks are purely light reflection as flash is not used.

As the majority of our items are either vintage or antique porcelain, they have probably been used. Most items collect small scuffs, surface marks and signs of wear during their years of service, it would be impossible to list them all, however, where there is something significant, these will be pointed out. Also, please remember that during the timeperiod when these items were manufactured, there was no such thing as quality control, and the manufacturing process was not as it is today, sothere may bea spot or two from when the set was fired in the kiln, black specks under the glaze, pin pricks where a glaze bubble popped, and support marks on the bottoms of the pieces etc. The above is all part and parcel of the charm of old china, so please don’t offer if you want new and perfect.
*Buy multiple items and we will happilycombine postage costs. Please let us know if you wish to offer on another item after the end of the first sale. Whilst we are happy to "hold" items over to the next weekend to save on postage, we still require payment within 3 days for the original purchase.
