VINTAGE REPO OTTOMAN SNUFF BOX

I have come up with yet another delightful Collectible Surprise for you to get excited about and to offer on. This one comes fromLONDON, ENGLAND. My wife and I were visiting dear friendsin London, in the late 1960's, and my wife was having a ball in the the Antique shops which were everywhere.

We were in Knightsbridge off of Hyde Park where we found a delightful small antique booth which housed an exciting array of small silver boxes and ornaments among which we found this old romantic highly decorated square SNUFF BOXwhich was represented to us to be a reproduction of a very old OTTOMAN or TURKISHSNUFF BOX.

It has the most delightful prominent engravings over the entire exterior which are Islamic in style. The entire top of the Snuff Box is inset with brightly colored hand cutGem Stones all set in a high bezel mount and surrounded ina very fancy 15 pointed elaborate STAR.

The entire box is rendered in fineGilt Ormolu. The cover snaps firmly in place to close, and the hinge is original and firm. The interior of the box still shows Ormolu traces thru the polishsing and ware. There are 2 small Emeralds missing from the colored stone insets in the top.

This charming Snuff Box will make an impressive addition to your fine box collection.
