Vintage Salmon Fly # 2 Bunyan Bugs On Original Retail Card 15 In Total Unused For Sale
Here is a Retail card of 15 salmon fly # 2 Bunyan Bugs that was found by my dad during a home renovation in Montana. This is an amazing find and is a great piece of History made famous worldwide by the movie A River Runs Through It. I have this priced reasonably. I do not have a buy it now as I have no way to determine it's value. Shipping will be done through UPS with insurance, and I will let them box it to protect it as it is. When I first received this I did some research and found the Bunyan bug website and spoke with Richard Rose about his item. He told me,
I am viewing the beautiful card of salmon fly # 2 Bunyan Bugs made by my grandfather, looks like March of 1966. The wings are elk hair. Old Mustad hook with bent eyelet. This is probably the best collection of salmon fly's I have seen in a very long time. The value of your collection is more than 70 cents ea. Each fly is $250.00 average being brand new could probably ask more. Where did you find these anyway? What a rare collection.Iget photos from around the world with old flies and it's quite enjoyable. Usually I do ask courtesy permission to use the photo on our web site since Bunyan Bug is trade marked and the history of my grandfathers fly's is good to share with others. Our site is down -revamp so when I get back up you can read about the saga of the Bunyan Bug. Paul Bunyan from Missoula, Montana is certainly a true pioneer in the art of fly-tying and also a skilled maker of split bamboo fly rods, and must be recognized and honored as a individual who contributed substantially to the sport of fly-fishing in the West.
This fly certainly occupies a unique position in the past and present heritage of fly fishing. It's a fly that has truly survived the test of time. Bunyan Bugs have caught mammoth trout and bass on the western rivers of the Rocky Mountains.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks
