This is a vintage small white cinnabar 7\" (inch) tall vase
This vase is carved very well and ornate with a farm scene depiction. Cinnabar has been used for its color in the New World since the Olmec culture.
The most popular known use of cinnabar is in Chinese carved lacquer ware.
A technique that apparently originated in the Song dynasty.
In modern jewelry and other industries that use cinnabar, the toxic pigment is replaced by a resin-based polymer that
approximates the appearance of the pigmented lacquer. Age of the vase is unknown.
The makers mark is embossed (raised) on the underneath of the vase. The base looks like copper but I could be wrong.The neck and base are not flawed as far as we can see. We did not look at this vase under magnification to look for any flaws that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
It is dirty and will need cleaning. There are no missing pieces, cracks, chips, nicks and etc. as far as we can see. We try to describe our items to the best of our ability.
We do make over look some details but for the most part we do our very best.
This vase stands at only 7 inches tall. Nicely carved and very orate with trees, a man with his cart that is being pulled by an ox or cow, a steamer ship, a sail boat and more.
Look at all the pictures closely, we might have missed some detail about this piece. This will be sent using USPS with lots of packaging materials to ensure a safe delivery.
