Luckenbooths were originally brooches given as betrothal giftssold from the \'locked booths\' along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, hence the nameAlso call Queen Mary\'s love token, signified by the heart and crown,to commemorate a gift from Lord Darnley to the Queen of ScotsThe original brooches were also pinned to the shawls of infantsto prevent them being spirited away by fairys or evil spirits

MADE IN SCOTLAND, ON THE ISLAND OF IONA

CELTIC ART INDUSTRIES WAS BEGUN ON IONA IN THE 1940s

SO THIS IS CERTAINLY A VINTAGE PIECE
